Jon Gibbons begins new role as Lismore City Council General Manager

Lismore City Council executives with Mayor Steve Krieg and new General Manager Jon Gibbons.

Mr Jon Gibbons has today taken up his role as Lismore City Council General Manager for a five-year term.

Lismore Mayor Steve Krieg officially welcomed Jon who he described as “the stand-out candidate during a rigorous recruitment process and the unanimous choice of Councillors.”

Mr Gibbons has a long history in local government and was previously Business Performance and Governance at Gold Coast City Council. He also served four years as the Chief Executive of Scenic Rim Council, as well as Chief Executive at Norfolk Island and Carpentaria councils.

His commencement now completes the executive team at Lismore City Council.

Mr Gibbons said he was looking forward to working with his executive team on Lismore’s journey to recovery.

“With our executive team now complete, we will lead this team together, building strong relationships with the Mayor, Councillors, our team of employees and the Lismore community,” he said.

“Lismore is a beautiful part of the world, and I hope to spend time exploring this region further as I settle in.”

Mayor Krieg said councillors were impressed with Mr Gibbons’ depth of experience and look forward to working with him.

“I look forward to working with Mr Gibbons to rebuild and move Lismore forward after what has been a difficult 12 months,” he said.

“I remain committed to rebuilding Lismore and look forward to working with Mr Gibbons to continue the work to build back better.”

Mr Gibbons holds an MBA and qualifications in Urban and Regional Planning, Environmental Health, Local Government management and Project Management.
