The Northern Rivers region in New South Wales has a high number of listed weeds, including 100 noxious weeds and 187 environmental weeds.

Many of these weeds originate from people's backyards and have the ability to spread and dominate natural areas. Two-thirds of these weeds were introduced legally for ornamental purposes.

These weeds can have negative impacts on the environment, industry and recreation, and Rous County Council provides resources and information on how to control them.
