2024 is going to be a wonderful year of economic development for the Lismore LGA!

I hope you’re feeling refreshed and revitalised after a successful Christmas campaign.

We are excited to announce the latest results of the December 2023 CBD occupancy audit, which has seen a jump of 7.3% in the occupancy rates of shopfronts.

73.4% of all inner CBD premises are now occupied. This is an increase from 70.1% when the audit was last conducted in late June. There has been a slight decrease in upstairs occupancy of 1.2% due to CBD office renovations as the city renews.

Lismore Mayor Steve Krieg said the strong result showed business confidence was returning to the CBD following the worst natural disaster in Australia’s recorded history, adding “I would like to thank our local businesses for re-investing in our city and community”.

Other data released recently shows:

  • 6% increase in credit card expenditure in the CBD compared to December 2023
  • 22% increase in dining and entertainment compared to December 2023
  • 3.89% increase in spending across the Lismore LGA
  • 12.75% increase in spending by visitors

A break-down of occupancy rates in the CBD’s streets is listed in the Lismore City Council Updates section below.

The Destination and Economy Team is looking forward to meeting and engaging with you in 2024, so we can all Back Lismore and get Lismore back to its best!
