Council meetings and public access
Council meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 6pm in the Council Chambers, Oliver Avenue, Goonellabah. Meetings are open to the public with the exception of confidential matters.
A public access session is held at the start of every Council meeting. People can speak for three minutes on any agenda item included in the business paper. Please complete the form below and return to firstname.lastname@example.org. For more information, phone 1300 87 83 87.
Councillor briefings and public forum sessions
Councillor briefings are held most Tuesday evenings so staff can provide background on issues or projects and Councillors have a chance to brainstorm and discuss.
The briefings are held in the Council Chambers from 6pm and everyone is welcome. Topics for each briefing can be found in our Calendar.
A public forum session is held at the beginning of each Councillor briefing. These sessions run for a total of 15 minutes and enable members of the public to address Council on issues of importance to them.
There are some items that are unable to be raised as part of this forum (see application form for more details). In addition, the 15 minutes set aside for the public forum session works on a first-in, best-dressed basis. To avoid disappointment we ask that anyone wishing to address Council during this time contacts our office by close of business on the Monday prior to the briefing to secure a spot. Alternatively, please complete and return the public forum session application form below.
