A boil water alert is in place for the village of Nimbin due to water treatment issues making tap water unsafe to drink. All water used for drinking, food preparation, brushing teeth, making ice, washing uncooked food, and pet drinking water must be brought to a rolling boil, cooled, and stored safely, or replaced with bottled water.
The 2022 floods caused substantial damage to the water and wastewater network and infrastructure that services the Lismore and Nimbin communities. The Flood Restoration Portfolio's Water program includes 12 major projects that will rebuild damaged infrastructure and enhance flood-resilience to continue providing safe and reliable drinking water supply and robust wastewater management systems. This program of works is included in the $145 million Northern Rivers Water and Wastewater Repair and Recovery program and proudly funded by the NSW Government.
