All NSW businesses that prepare, cater and serve food, and food-related businesses need to be aware of new food safety requirements. The changes aim to improve the skills and knowledge of food handlers and their supervisors and to assist both businesses and enforcement agencies to identify failures in the management of potentially hazardous food more quickly and take appropriate action.

The changes relate to a new Standard (Standard 3.2.2A – Food Safety Management Tools) which requires businesses to implement new food safety management tools.

The legislation was introduced on 8 December 2022 and the changes must be implemented by 8 December 2023.
