Safer Cities Her Way Program – Project Update

her-way-2.jpg

The Destination and Economy Team have been working closely with the community over recent months on the Safer Cities Her Way Program, a collaborative partnership program between Transport for NSW.

This program will deliver demonstration projects aimed at improving the real and perceived safety for women, girls and gender-diverse people when walking or moving to, through and within public spaces in our City.

With community engagement activities now completed, community input was reviewed against the objectives of the Safer Cities: Her Way Program. From this review, the following two sites have been selected:

  • The open pedestrian laneway between Woodlark Street and Browns Creek Carpark
  • The Harold Fredericks Carpark

I encourage you to take a look at the trial interventions proposed for each site and provide your feedback. They were chosen through a co-design workshop with community members to improve feelings of safety in the area, create a more welcoming space and to strengthen the identity, character and community value of Lismore’s CBD.

The two concept plans are currently on display via the project’s Your Say page for community consultation, closing 20 August 2023.
