Plaques and headstones

Lismore City Council offers plaques for lawn and lawn beam graves at its cemeteries.

Headstones for graves in rural or historical cemeteries can be arranged through an authorised monument stonemason after the burial. Council can provide more information on how to arrange a headstone.

Plaques for lawn graves and cremated remains can be mounted on a concrete base or a granite base for an additional charge. Optional extras include photographs, emblem features, and personalized images on glass or steel plaques. Inscriptions can also be added directly onto granite bases. Plaques typically take four to six weeks to be completed and placed on the grave.

The maintenance of headstones and plaques is the responsibility of the family and descendants.

Trinket Guidelines

To improve the appearance and management of the Lismore Memorial Gardens lawn cemetery, the council has established Trinket Guidelines(PDF, 15MB).

These guidelines aim to reduce the number of breakable trinkets placed on lawn areas and improve the overall appearance of the cemetery.

While family members are still allowed to place items on headstones, there are restrictions on glass, potted plants and solar lighting.
