Construction approvals

A builder working on a construction site.

A construction certificate is an approval that ensures building plans and specifications meet Australian Standards for building.  The construction certificate certifies that detailed construction plans and specifications are consistent with the development consent.

Before commencing any construction on a work site, a Construction Certificate must be obtained from Council or a Principal Certifying Authority (PCA).

A PCA agreement and notification to Council two days prior to construction are also required and this can be lodged through the NSW Planning Portal.

Construction Certificate Applications are to be lodged through the NSW Planning Portal.
