Landslip

The steep terrain and high rainfall across the Lismore region make some areas susceptible to landslips and slope instability, particularly following periods of intense or prolonged rain.  

Landslips can cause significant damage to roads, embankments and properties, and may pose risks to people living or travelling through affected areas. 

Warning signs can include cracks in the ground or retaining walls, leaning trees or fences and changes in surface drainage.  

Reduce your risk

Understanding your property’s topography, drainage and maintaining stable slopes and vegetation cover, can help reduce the risk of landslips.  

Avoid uncontrolled water runoff, heavy excavation, or vegetation removal on steep slopes. 

Landslip Restoration Package

Lismore’s Landslip Restoration Package is a significant road infrastructure project aimed at rectifying more than 60 complex landslips resulting from the 2022 natural disasters.
