Economic Development Strategy 2026 - 2036

The Economic Development Strategy 2026-2036 positions Lismore for planned, resilient growth, reinforcing its role as the civic, cultural and economic heart of the Northern Rivers. As the region’s designated regional city, Lismore anchors the institutional, professional and service systems that support a catchment of more than 250,000 people across northern NSW.
This Strategy translates the direction of the Local Strategic Planning Statement into practical economic action, providing a clear roadmap for business growth, investment attraction, workforce development and regional collaboration. It supports Lismore’s long-term aspiration to grow to a population of 60,000 people by creating approximately 6,500 new jobs, strengthening local career pathways and ensuring economic opportunities benefit local people, businesses and future generations.
