Strategic purpose To enhance and meet diverse recreational needs by incorporating desired features such as shade, seating and recreational amenities

Following the community consultation sessions including on-site drop-in sessions held in November 2023, Trinity Skatepark  completed the concept designs for the Goonellabah Skatepark Upgrade.

The key findings of the consultation include the following:

  • The community showed strong support for the project, with genuine interest and backing
  • There is a strong desire to provide high-quality skate facility that caters to all ages and abilities
  • Respondents preferred a combined facility with bowl/transition and street/plaza style features
  • The majority of respondents rode skateboards and scooters, with others riding bikes, roller skates/blades and ripsticks
  • Obstacles suggested by users at the face-to-face sessions includes the loading dock and hydrant combination, pier 7, wide tread stairs and slappy kerb
  • Respondents were interested in the future facility providing shade, seating, tables, drinking fountains and BBQs.

Trinity used this feedback, along with constraints of the existing skatepark, to shape the concept design.

Works started on 27 May 2024 and were completed in July 2024.
