SafeWork NSW testing has found no respirable asbestos fibres in the coloured sand products named in the ACCC’s voluntary recall. As results were below respirable levels, the products can now be double-bagged and disposed of in red-lid bins. The recall covered Kadink Sand, Rainbow Sand and Creatistics Coloured Sand sold through major retailers.
Lismore City Council has made some changes to how building certification is delivered, with these services now provided by accredited private certifiers. Council will continue to handle Building Information Certificates and external plumbing inspections. Read more on these changes here.
Lismore City Council has begun phased roadworks on Union Street, South Lismore. The project, divided into stages, will address deteriorating road formations and improve traffic safety.
Stage 1a has been completed, and Stage 1b commenced on October 24, 2023, focusing on the northern side. Modifications to road levels and drainage will be implemented as needed. Additional works, pending funding, are planned for other sections of Union Street.
