The Lismore Recycling & Recovery Centre will be affected by road works and temporary changes to operating hours from Monday, 9 February through to late March 2026, weather permitting. During this time, the centre will close daily at 1pm. Traffic changes will also be in place to allow for repairs to the sealed entrance road between the front gate and the weighbridge.
Works will include the decommissioning of current play equipment and relocation of overhead electricity. New play equipment to be constructed, as established post community engagement.
Since removing the old playground equipment at Tamarind, Council have made a number of general improvements to the park site. These improvements include establishing footpath connections to the toilet block and bin slab, and removing a large gum tree.
The removed gum tree had significant internal decay and posed a risk to safety. Staff engaged Council’s Tree Officer to discuss the removal of the tree and offsetting the removal.
As of Wednesday, 16 July 2025, Council has completed the decommissioning works of unsafe play equipment and bollards at Tamarind Park.
Signage has been placed at the site to further inform residents of the works. Over the coming month, Council will go to tender to replace the play equipment as requested by community in recent consultation.
Throughout the month of June, Council facilitated engagement on Tamarind Park in Dunoon.
The engagement rallied a high response from the community. Responses are in the process of being reviewed, and an outcome will be provided to the community in the coming weeks.
Due to safety concerns, decommissioning of the current play equipment will occur throughout the month of July starting Wednesday, 16 July 2025.
