Have a plan

Sit down with your family and plan what you will do if a natural hazard or emergency affects your area.

Make critical decisions, such as when to leave, what to take and what to do with the animals. Do not leave it to the last minute, as disasters can happen with little or no warning.

There is a range of personal emergency plans available; choose one that best suits your needs.

Floods and storms

The NSW State Emergency Service Emergency Planning Tool will guide you through a series of questions to produce a basic personalised plan for your household.

Once you have your basic plan, you can add to it by discussing it with your household, family, friends and neighbours.

Bushfires

One of the most important ways to prepare for a bushfire is to make a plan that everyone in your home agrees on. Use the NSW Rural Fire Service My Fire Plan. It can take as little as five minutes to make your plan. Discuss it with your family so you know what you will do in the event of a fire.
