Snow Street Pump Station – In Progress

In response to the devastating February 2022 natural disaster, Lismore City Council is working hard to enhance the community’s resilience during future flooding events.

To facilitate this, a new pump station will be constructed in South Lismore at Snow Street alongside a new stormwater drainage network to improve drainage to the pump station.

The new pump station will feature submersible electric pumps, enhanced by connectivity to a new fibre optic network designed for remote operation, monitoring and surveillance.

The pumping station will deliver extended access for emergency service personnel and the evacuation of residents and businesses, by keeping the roads open for longer.

Where is the new Snow Street pump station located?

The new pump station will be positioned alongside the levee wall in South Lismore – near the junction of Snow Street, East Street and Wilson Street.

Why is the Snow Street pump station being created?

Detailed assessments were undertaken across Lismore’s flood infrastructure following the 2022 floods. Through this process, it was identified that a new pump station in South Lismore would help reduce localised flooding, expedite the removal of stormwater from around businesses, and help keep emergency access roads open for longer.
