Memorial Baths closed; all aquatic activities moved to GSAC pool

Friday, 07 April 2017

Goonellabah Sports & Aquatic Centre pool will be open for extended hours following the devastating flood in the CBD that has inundated the Lismore Memorial Baths.

Cleaning and repairing the Lismore Memorial Baths could take many months and the pool will not reopen until the spring swimming season.

Goonellabah Sports & Aquatic Centre Assistant Manager Yonika Mantel said all Learn to Swim lessons, holiday swimming intensives and other activities would now be held at the Goonellabah pool.

“We had planned to shut the Goonellabah pool in early April for repairs, but we have now postponed works until July due to flooding and the closure of the Memorial Baths,” she said.

“It is going to take some time to clean and repair the facility so for now, we urge people to visit Goonellabah Sports & Aquatic Centre.”

The team at Goonellabah Sports & Aquatic Centre will close the toddler pool from Sunday, 9 April as tiling on the pool’s edge is broken and needs repairing immediately.
