Residents asked to help develop new sport and rec plan

Tuesday, 19 December 2017

Lismore City Council is reviewing its Sport and Recreation Plan and would like to gather feedback from local residents about how they stay active.

Council’s Partnering and Community Engagement Officer Catherine Rosenbaum said the current Sport and Recreation Plan was developed six years ago and it is now time to review and update the document to reflect the community's changing needs.

“So that we can plan for the future, we want to know how our community stays fit and healthy,” she said.

“We want to know about the different ways in which people choose to exercise or stay active: Do you play a competitive sport? Do walk, skate or ride to work? Do you enjoy swimming?

“All these things will help to determine the types of infrastructure and new partnerships we need to include in the plan.”

The community consultation is the first part of a multi-phase engagement process that will also include talking to local schools, recreation groups, sporting clubs and peak bodies.

Residents can provide feedback via Council’s new online engagement hub Your Say Lismore until 6 February 2018.
