Tune in to local democracy with Council meeting webcasts

Wednesday, 10 May 2017

Forget Simpsons re-runs and Masterchef eliminations, Lismore City Council is now live streaming its monthly meetings for edge-of-your-seat viewing.

The ordinary monthly meetings will be webcast via Council’s website and an archive of meetings will be available for those who wish to view past decisions and debates of Council.

“Live streaming the meetings will enable anyone to view Council meetings from their desktop computer, tablet or smartphone,” Information Services Manager Garth Hayhurst said.

“In a regional area providing this service ensures that community members who are interested in meetings or a particular community issue can tune in from home. For people who live in rural areas or families who have commitments at home in the evening, this means distance and time are no barriers to getting involved in the issues that are important to them.

“Meeting webcasts give everyone an opportunity to see the democratic process at work.”
