First off-leash dog area for Goonellabah now open

Goonellabah’s first off-leash dog area is now complete and open to the public.
Located at the hockey ground end of Hepburn Park, the site includes plenty of parking for pet owners and a wide expanse of fenced open space for dogs to run around in. Shade trees have been planted and there is a doggie water bubbler and a dog-poo bin and bags.
“It's wonderful that Goonellabah dog owners now have a place to take their dogs where they can run around off-leash. It’s good exercise, great for socialising and Goonellabah was certainly lacking this type of facility,” Ranger Russell Davis said.
“People have wanted to see an off-leash dog area in Goonellabah for many years, so it’s really rewarding to see that feedback finally addressed and the dog park complete.”
Downtown there are three off-leash dog areas – one at Elizabeth Park and two on the riverbank south of Ballina Street Bridge.
