Category C fundinfg announced - small grants now available for business and community groups

Thursday, 13 April 2017

Lismore Mayor Isaac Smith has welcomed today’s announcement that ‘Category C’ assistance would be forthcoming for those hit hardest by the flood in Lismore and Murwillumbah.

The Category C assistance is being provided through the jointly funded Commonwealth-State Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA) and will enable eligible small businesses and non-profit organisations to access grants of up to $15,000 to assist with their clean-up and recovery costs.

“Some of our businesses and community groups have been left decimated by the flood and the announcement of the Category C funding will be a great relief to them,” Isaac said.

“For some, it may be the difference between closing their doors for good or getting back on their feet.

“We were thrilled today to hear this announcement and thank the government for supporting our community when we need it most.”

To apply for a recovery grant, phone the NSW Rural Assistance Authority on 1800 678 593 or visit raa.nsw.gov.au. For further information on disaster assistance visit disasterassist.gov.au or emergency.nsw.gov.au.
