Grow your love of food at Matt Golinski masterclass

Monday, 04 March

Celebrity chef Matt Golinski will be the special guest at this year’s Eat the Street food festival, where he will offer two masterclasses as well as doing a live demonstration and Q&A.

Matt is well known as one of the original team members of the popular Ready Steady Cook television series and has worked as an executive chef at some of Queensland’s leading restaurants as well as founding his own catering company.

Based on the Sunshine Coast, Matt has been helping the Gympie region promote itself as a world-class food destination since 2015 in his role as their Food and Culinary Tourism Ambassador. He uses his knowledge of the area and its producers to showcase the region through cooking demonstrations and his blog Matt Eats Gympie.

In March 2018, Matt joined the Peppers Noosa Resort team as their consultant executive chef, developing menus that consolidate his knowledge and love for the producers of his region.

“We are so lucky to have Matt joining us for Eat the Street – not only is his knowledge of food incredible, but he is passionate about the slow food movement and using fresh, seasonal ingredients and local produce,” Acting City Centre Manager Andrew Walker said.

“This is a really rare opportunity to work in a small class environment and learn why Matt has become such a sought-after chef. He has incredible energy and I guarantee participants will walk away feeling inspired to keep experimenting with and creating delicious food.”

The masterclasses are being held during the Eat the Street food festival on Saturday, 9 March from 10-11.30am and from 2.30-4pm at the Peppertree Kitchen. Tickets are $90 and include all ingredients.

Other ticketed events being held as part of Eat the Street include a Progressive Dinner on 7 March, a Foraging Expedition on 8 March and a Mixology Masterclass at The Loft on the afternoon of 8 March.

Eat the Street runs from 12pm to 9pm in the heart of Lismore on Saturday, 9 March. There will be more than 50 stalls offering tasting plates, plus boutique drinks and beverages, home-grown produce and locally made products.

As well as the popular cooking stage featuring Matt doing a live demonstration and Q&A, there is also the Southern Cross University music stage featuring headline act Wild Marmalade as well as kids activities all day and into the evening.
