North Lismore Plateau planning agreements on public exhibition

Tuesday, 20 February 2018

Lismore City Council has placed on public exhibition two voluntary planning agreements for North Lismore Plateau until 28 March.

The voluntary planning agreements relate to biodiversity conservation and water and sewer infrastructure for land being developed by the Winten Group. The land is the subject of a current development application lodged with Council for more than 400 new residential lots.

The voluntary planning agreements outline terms for private developers to share the costs of internal water and sewer infrastructure to service their developments on the North Lismore Plateau.

Council will prepare a report following the public exhibition period, which will be presented to the Joint Regional Planning Panel (JRPP), which will make a final assessment on the development application.

“At the end of the submission process, we will prepare an assessment report on the DA for the Winten Group land to address all of the relevant environmental issues, so that the independently appointed JRPP can properly assess and determine the DA on its own merit,” Council’s Manager of Development and Assessment Peter Jeuken said.

Meanwhile, the exhumation of alleged human remains from a suspected human grave by forensics specialists has been undertaken.

The exhumation process failed to identify any human remains in the location identified by ground-penetrating radar in a previous archaeological assessment. A report on the exhumation investigation is expected in the near future.

A report on the voluntary planning agreements and public submissions is expected to be presented to Council by May 2018, prior to the final development assessment report being presented to the JRPP in June.

The voluntary planning agreements are available to view online at via the Your Say Lismore community consultation portal or in hardcopy at Council’s Corporate Centre, 43 Oliver Avenue, Goonellabah.

Submissions can be made online, emailed to or sent to the General Manager, Lismore City Council, PO Box 23A, Lismore, NSW 2480.

Submissions must be received by 28 March 2018.
