Deadline extended for 2019 Australia Day Awards

Tuesday, 04 December

Lismore City Council has extended the nominations for the 2019 Australia Day Awards until 20 December 2018.

The awards are held annually to recognise people who give back to the community through volunteering or community work, or those who are excelling in sport or other endeavours.

Lismore Mayor Isaac Smith is urging people to take some time to nominate a family member, friend or person they admire in the community.

“If you have a friend who you’ve noticed working tirelessly for a volunteer group, a teacher who inspires you or a student who is kicking goals in life, please nominate them,” Lismore Mayor Isaac Smith.

“Australia Day Awards give us a chance every year to honour those people in our community who do what they do for passion and not personal gain, and these people inevitably never seek reward. The Australia Day Awards give us a chance to unearth our unsung heroes – the people who make our community a better place.

“It only takes five minutes to complete a nomination, so please get online before the deadline and nominate today.”
