Masters Games and Lismore Cup partnership a winning combo

Friday, 19 May 2017

Lismore Workers Masters Games organisers have joined forces with the Lismore Turf Club so Masters Games competitors can enjoy a day at the races.

The popular Lismore Cup will be held on Thursday, 21 September, the day prior to the commencement of the Masters Games. All registered competitors will receive free entry to the Lismore Cup as part of their registration this year, valued at $20 per person.

“We expect to have around 1500 competitors coming to Lismore for the Masters Games and what better way to kick off a jam-packed weekend of sporting fun than with a trip to the races,” Council’s Events Officer Leanne Clark said.

“This is a fantastic incentive from the Lismore Turf Club and a wonderful bonus for our Masters Games entrants.”

Lismore Turf Club Manager Scott Jones said the partnership was a win-win for both organisations and it made sense to involve the Masters Games sporting community in what is one of the biggest sporting events on the Lismore calendar.

“The Lismore Cup is always a lot of fun and for us, the more people through the gate, the better the atmosphere of the race day,” Scott said.

“We hope to encourage visitors from outside the region to arrive a day early and enjoy the best country cup race meeting in NSW. It will bring more tourism dollars into Lismore and it’s a chance for Masters Games teams and individuals to dress up and have some fun before the competition proper kicks off on Friday.”

Registrations are now open for 2017 Lismore Workers Club Masters Games at Early bird registrations close on 30 June and competitors are urged to register now for big discounts.
