Heritage Park Upgrades

Strategic purpose	To enhance the park's amenities and accessibility by incorporating popular suggestions, aiming to improve connectivity and visitor experience while ensuring safety and visibility through lighting and improved access to facilities

Following the 2021 Heritage Park consultation, several popular suggestions have been incorporated into the park's future plans:

Completion of shade installations over the new Tiny Tots playground and water play area. (Completed)
Long-term plans for installing change rooms and toilets in the park.
Ongoing progress towards repurposing the railway carriage into a café. (Final use pending determination)
Upcoming construction of an Adventure Tower playground for older children.
Future initiatives include the development of more native and sensory gardens under the Nature Play project.
Completion of drainage improvements. (Completed)
Removal of bluestone rocks, replaced with a crushed granite river. (Completed)
Installation of sandstone arc seating around play areas. (Completed)

Furthermore, the Heritage Park Pedestrian Spine Pathway has been successfully completed. The Lismore City Hall to River Pedestrian Spine was one of four projects funded through the Revitalisation of the Lismore CBD initiative by the NSW Government.

The project entailed the construction of a 2.5m wide concrete footpath connecting Lismore City Hall to the existing path at Riverside Park, cutting through the centre of Heritage Park. This pathway aimed to enhance connectivity and accessibility for pedestrians traveling from Lismore City Hall to the Wilsons River and vice versa, while also improving the overall visitor experience within Heritage Park.

The works included laying a concrete footpath from Molesworth Street to Victoria Street, accompanied by a raised deck encircling the fig tree in the park's centre. Additionally, lighting was installed to enhance safety and visibility along the path. Improvements were also made to access the Visitor Information Centre and restroom facilities from Heritage Park.
