Schools Dry Cell Battery Collection Program

RECYCLING WIZARDS NEED YOU TO HELP US COLLECT BATTERIES.

The program was rolled out to schools in the Lismore City Council area in October 2007.

Northern Rivers Waste will provide your school with a Dry Cell Battery Collection Bin and a collection service for the dry cell batteries.

Once collected the batteries will be weighed by Northern Rivers Waste and the weight data will be given back to the school for collation and class use.

The program allows for active involvement through the collection of batteries and the collation and interpretation of weight data.

The program is run on a term basis. The battery collection bins will be collected by Northern Rivers waste at the end of the term or when otherwise requested (when full).

The school that collects the most batteries by weight each term will win a $150 book voucher, with a $150 voucher to the school that comes second in the competition.

Each term the participating schools will receive a participation certificate that states the weight of the batteries collected.

Each school will receive a battery collection program poster, dry cell battery fact sheets, dry cell battery collection bin and bin labels, and an administrative guide including a program tracking form and fax back sheets.
